Our home in Exmouth is also shared with three of the seven species of marine turtles - Green, Loggerhead and Hawksbill. I've been lucky enough to have spent two summers volunteering with the Ningaloo Turtle Program, helping to protect these beautiful marine creatures.
Unfortunately marine turtle populations globally are under thread due to things like climate change, pollution and human activity. The Ningaloo Turtle Program involves early morning starts, walking long stretches of the beach and monitoring turtle nesting activity. The idea is that this data will help us better to understand changes to the turtle population over many years to inform conservation efforts.
I've been lucky enough to witness baby sea turtles hatching on the beach and making their way to the water for the first time which is a very special experience!
It's important that we continue to protect our marine turtle populations and we are excited to be donating $5 from sales from our Turtle Earrings to the Ningaloo Turtle Program.
